Heroin, opioid prevention and education (HOPE)

The Wisconsin HOPE Grant was awarded to Libertas and Prevea Health in 2015 – creating Northeast Wisconsin Opioid Treatment Services. The Northeast Wisconsin Opioid Treatment Services is a collaborative effort between Libertas in Marinette and Prevea Health to help individuals with opioid addictions. People with opioid addictions in Florence, Marinette, Menominee, and Oconto Counties in Wisconsin can access abstinence-based treatment or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with alcohol and other drug  abuse (AODA) counseling.

With this service, an individual is assessed by an AODA counselor using criteria from the American Society of Addiction Medicine to determine what level of care that individual needs. Also with this service, there is case management available to help connect people with a primary health care doctor, recovery support systems, psychotherapy, employment skills training, peer services, medication monitoring and individual and family psychoeducation by counselors in their home area. When someone completes treatment with the help of these collaborative efforts, transition to county-based or private cost treatment is completed as needed.
