Patients who have a stroke can sustain substantial loss of independence and function. The HSHS St. Vincent Rehabilitation Center provides stroke patients with the most advanced rehab care available. St. Vincent’s staff of professionally trained nurses and therapists has been treating stroke patients for 22 years.
Stroke patients improve functionally during their inpatient rehab stay. Functional gain outcomes exceed regional and national levels. After inpatient rehab, 77 percent of our stroke patients return to a home environment. This exceeds the national average.
Patients who receive inpatient rehabilitation at St. Vincent have the best opportunity to regain lost function. The rehabilitation unit provides patients with daily treatments with specially trained physicians, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and therapeutic recreation. All other ancillary services within the hospital are also available to patients. Patients receive three to five hours of therapy daily, based on their specific needs.
